We always knew how much better we felt when we were outside barefoot or swimming in the lake, so it’s no surprise that grounding has so many positive health benefits.
Grounding is the process of connecting your body to the Earth’s surface and absorbing electrons, which in turn aids in your overall well-being.
Grounding can help with an impressive list of health issues. According to Ultimate Longevity, grounding has been shown to:
Studies have shown that as little as 20 minutes can be beneficial, but when it comes to seeing better results, the longer the better.
You can get grounded outside by putting your bare skin on the earth or swimming in a lake or natural body of water.
You can also use indoor grounding mats, which we use and would highly recommend!
People actually spend an alarming 90% of their time inside! So why not reap the benefits while we’re working and sleeping?
Most of us seem to have similar weekly routines where we go to work, and the kids go to school, then we come home and we go back inside.
Even when we’re outside, we have shoes on most of the time. The kids have to wear shoes at recess, and we all wear shoes most of the time in public outdoor spaces due to the fear of dangerous objects on the ground.
Shoes are made with rubber soles, which is an insulator and does not allow the earth’s electrons to pass through to your body.
Then there’s winter. And let me tell you from experience, it’s much harder to convince your family to get outside barefoot when there’s three feet of snow!
We love grounding outside, but it was these reasons that lead us to search for an indoor option as well.
We came across Ultimate Longevity and Clint Ober, and watched one of the educational videos they have on grounding. It hooked us right away.

We purchased the king-sized Ground Therapy Sleep Mat for our bed, two twin-sized Ground Therapy Sleep Mats for the kids’ beds, and the Ground Therapy Universal Mat that we use in the office and in the gym.
Their products are well made, and their customer service was really great to deal with during the ordering process!
The Ground Therapy Sleep Mats are incredibly easy to use, they fit right on top of your mattress and attach to your bed with straps that go around each corner of your mattress. Once it’s attached to your mattress, you attach the 15 foot cord to the Sleep Mat and then plug it in to the special plug-in block called the Safe-T-Cube splitter, which only has one prong that inserts into the grounded portion of your outlets. This Safe-T-Cube also has two ports for grounding products, so if you end up with a grounding pillow or second grounding mat you can support two in one plug! We have had these sleep mats since 2020 and we love them.
The Ground Therapy Universal Mat definitely lives up to its name. It’s 12.5” x 29”, so it can fit nearly anywhere. It also comes with a 15-foot cord and a Safe-T-Cube Splitter. We have also had this product since 2020 and we use it in the office under our desk and bring it upstairs to use when we work at the dining table. We also use it on the ground in the gym over top of our yoga mat, we stand on it doing weight exercises, and we put it on our meditation mat to use while seated.
With both of these products in play, we are getting HOURS of uninterrupted grounding year-round while we work, exercise, and sleep - which is amazing.
It also makes me feel really good that we are giving our kids the benefits of grounding while they sleep as well, which is benefiting their tiny developing bodies!

When it comes to cleaning the mats, we wipe ours down with a damp cloth. Make sure you don’t use any harsh chemicals when cleaning.
When you’re looking at buying grounding products, there are many options.
They offer these in every size, and they have combo options as well where you can group in pillowcases with your order. They all come with 15 a food cord, a Safe-T-Cube Splitter, an outlet checker, and some bonus gifts!
